AR App and AR + Art Workshop

For renowned Swiss video artist Pipilotti Rist’s major exhibition, Behind Your Eyelid at Tai Kwun (3 Aug - 27 Nov 2022), MetaObjects helped to create an AR app available on Android and iOS. The Behind Your Eyelid app displays videos by Rist when the phone is pointed at two images of artworks (also available as limited editions).

MetaObjects was also invited to present an AR + Art Workshop to primary and secondary school teachers in Hong Kong to demonstrate the possibilities for teaching AR in an educational context. The workshop provided an introduction to a range of AR technologies and discussed artistic examples of AR projects, and explored creating AR filters using SparkAR. Issues of media literacy and conceptual development was emphasised to encourage young people to think critically about the use of technologies in their work beyond fetishisation of the medium.
