Asian Avant-Garde Film Festival | Installation & AV Performance | M+

For the Asian Avant-Garde Film Festival at M+, we worked with the Indonesian musician Wahono to create a live audio-responsive and live triggered visuals using archival footage and AI-generated imagery. Presented on the Horizon Terrace the performance featured a large scale projection and live music. The festival was held from 30 May - 1 June 2025 as the second annual edition.

For the festival, we also produced a video installation for the lounge, which created a time-looped experience for visitors of passersby’s of the seating area. The theme of the festival, Time Will Tell explores the notion of time through film, video and performance, where the installation reflects on the passage of time by displaying ghosts of attendees from the past 15 minutes on a large LED wall. A web-cam in front of the screen is use to capture people chatting and sitting in the lounge and live audience interactions with the installation.

We also supported Wong Kit Yi with the post-production and subtitling for her latest lecture performance Timebombs! premiered at the festival. Through the work, the artist questions how our temporal existence is confined by our bodily condition, and how that informs our choices and responses to various global urgencies—from climate change to the fertility crisis and beyond.
