Lu Yang: Dance Dance Revolution | Game Installation | Shanghai Biennale
For the 12th Shanghai Biennale 2018, Lu Yang created a large scale installation including modified arcade machines, LED displays, videos, and set design. For the installation, MetaObjects helped to create a Dance Dance Revolution game using an arcade cabinet modified with the artist’s characters, custom music, backgrounds and animations. Users can play the game by selecting characters, outfit, background, music and play using the dance pad. The exhibition titled Proregress by chief curator Cuauhtémoc Medina is on at the Power Station of Art from 10 November 2018 until 10 March 2019. The exhibition also features works by Ryoji Ikeda, Rafael Lozano-Hemmer, Nadim Abbas, Yang Fudong, C&G, Francis Alÿs, Alfredo Jarr, Seth Price, Samson Young, and many others.
