Lu Yang's Screen Bodies | Journal and Exhibition | Australian National University

A special issue of Screen Bodies, The Journal of Embodiment, Media Arts, and Technology, Iss. 1 Vol. 7, edited by Livia Monnet, Ari Heinrich and Gabriel Remy-Handfield has been dedicated to the work of Lu Yang. The issue explores the diverse works of Lu Yang crossing themes of gender, identity, Buddhism, games, posthumanism, Otaku culture. The journal features an article by MetaObject’s Artistic Director, Ashley Lee Wong titled “Cyclic Existence, Iteration, and Digital Transcendence” which discusses the development of Lu Yang's live motion capture performances and perspectives on artistic practice, Buddhism and digital culture.
Alongside the journal, a curated exhibition titled Lu Yang’s Screen Bodies, curated by Ari Heinrich, Gabriel Remy-Handfield, Ashley Lee Wong and Chin-Jie Melodie Liu was presented at the Australian National University’s China in the World Gallery in Canberra. The exhibition was on from 29 Aug–16 Dec 2022.
