Samson Young: ‘Possible Music #1’ | 3D Print sculptures | Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum

Samson Young One Hand Clapping at Guggenheim Museum

For the One Hand Clapping group exhibition at the Guggenheim Museum in New York, Samson Young presented a new commission supported by The Robert H. N. Ho Family Foundation and curated by Xiaoyu Weng and Hou Hanru. For the installation, Possible Music #1, MetaObjects facilitated the 3D printing production on the large scale wall-mounted sculptures. The works were printed on a large format Builder Extreme 2000 FDM printer. The works were modelled and printed in multiple parts with appropriate fixtures for hanging on the walls. The artist applied pastel colouring by hand to the printed pieces. The installation includes sound, video and sculpture and features contribution from NESS and Shane Aspegren. The exhibition features new works by Chinese artists including Cao Fei, Wong Ping, Lin Yilin, and Duan Jianyu, and was on display from 4 May until 21 October 2018.
